One of my resolutions was to engage more in text stuff throughout the internet and in a less ephemeral way (an eternal war against the eternal timelines), so imagine my joy when I saw that you came back with the newsletter! Anyway, I really like your work and I wish you nothing but the best for 2024 :)

in: sustained argumentation, long-form writing (Substack), taking yourself intellect seriously as a woman

out: fragmentary writing (Twitter), deliberately infantilising yourself for an audience

something i would really like to see out: boy vs girl everything. 'divine feminine' vs. 'divine masculine', 'girls locker room' vs. 'boys locker room', 'girl math' vs 'boy math', 'at the girls sleepover' vs. 'at the boys sleepover' and so forth. When will it end. The joke is on us and we are not in on it...the only thing that these dichotomies do is cede ground to bioessentialism and belief in inherently gendered behaviours.

Listen, i've been watching outlander for the past week & i'm like everything they say is so poetic I'ma start picking up what they say. The way we talk to each other is so boring!!!!

expanding my vocabulary is such a goal in 2024! something i’ve been doing is writing down words i don’t know while reading and then going back and looking them all up and writing down the definitions ... something i had to do reading joan didion! she had such an expansive vocabulary

I'm one of your youtube fans but I just subscribed to your substack and this is my first of your essays I've engaged with. I soo agree with your denouncing of "girl math"/"20-year-old teenager" concept that has been all over the internet. It initially began as newly adult women finding community online of that in between stage of youth and adulthood and reclaiming girlyness/femininity that was previously viewed as lesser than. However, as more people uphold this concept its morphed into a form of misogyny that 'praises' women for being in this infantilized state. It sucks how misogyny continues to be 'reinvented' in trendy ways, and then when you call them out on it you're the bad guy :(

I love your resolutions! I composed mine similarly (so realistic and simple it would be embarrassing not to follow through.) For example: move daily— I have to either do a short exercise minimum or go for a walk a day. WFH meant I could easily go through a day by only sitting on my ass. It’s worth mentioning I am someone who is not an excersiz-y person at all. And yet, I have managed this one. Highly recommend. Gently edging towards health and wealth🥂

I am so happy I found you here!!! I love your video essays. I actually found myself reading this in your voice lol.

I have been thinking about your video on the fitness elite since watching it over a month ago. I just moved to Miami and couldn’t understand why all of the girls here were putting on expensive matching work out sets (*note: these sets are almost too nice/impractical to actually exercise in) with their hair done and a full face of makeup just to go about their day, even when that does NOT include a $50 pilates class.

Also, just the other day I was thinking about when we make the leap from girl to woman! I feel at 25, I’m both. Like a second adolescence, sometimes a child, sometimes an adult. Or maybe child inside, adult outside—or is that just what being an adult is?

Love you Mina! Please keep posting on substack
